Today, the Publisher of Fresh Facts Magazine, Comrade Monday Iyke Ojomah, together with the entire management and staff, join family members, colleagues, friends, and admirers across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate a distinguished gentleman—Barrister David Igbodo, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), eminent legal practitioner, reform advocate, and revered community leader from Delta State.
A man of intellect, courage, and unwavering dedication to public service, Chief Barrister Igbodo’s life is a study in purposeful leadership. His contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture, legal reforms, community development, and civic advocacy have distinguished him as one of the nation’s most principled voices in law and justice.
A Career Rooted in Discipline and Professional Excellence
Barrister David Igbodo retired from the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) after decades of meritorious service. As former head of the Force Legal Department, he provided expert guidance on complex legal matters and served as a key adviser to the police hierarchy.
In this role, he became widely known for his advocacy on ethical policing, particularly the illegality of parading suspects before the media—a stance that underscored his respect for human rights and due process. His voice was firm, courageous, and grounded in the principles of constitutional law.
A Respected Legal Mind and Public Administrator
Beyond policing, Barrister Igbodo continues to play influential roles in governance and legal practice. He currently serves as:
- Chairman, Delta State Public Procurement Council, where he promotes transparency, accountability, and value-for-money governance.
- Member, Security Agencies Relations Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), contributing to stronger collaboration between legal practitioners and security institutions.
- Member, Board of Trustees, Alumni Association of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), supporting educational growth and alumni engagement.
Across these platforms, he is recognized for integrity, clarity of thought, and an unwavering commitment to fairness.
A Champion of Community Development
Perhaps one of his most inspiring roles is his service as President General of the Otolokpo Development Union (ODU). In this capacity, he has consistently mobilized unity, self-help initiatives, and grassroots empowerment in his hometown in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State.
His leadership has fostered development conversations, community-driven projects, and a renewed sense of collective responsibility among the people of Otolokpo. Chief Igbodo represents the rare breed of leaders who understand that true development begins from the grassroots.
Voice of Advocacy, Knowledge, and Public Enlightenment
A respected public speaker and advocate, Barrister Igbodo has collaborated with organizations such as CLEEN Foundation, contributing to national discourse on criminal justice reforms, human rights, and ethical law enforcement.
He is also a writer and has authored impactful essays on security, legal principles, and community development—some of which have been featured in Fresh Facts Magazine. His writings reflect depth, clarity, and a passion for building a just and peaceful society.
A Life Worth Celebrating
