Ojomah Describes Victory as Act of God, Urges Renewed Commitment to Unity, Accountability and Improved Performance
The management of Fresh Facts Magazine has congratulated Comrade Churchill Oyowe and all members of the re-elected executive of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on their electoral victory, describing their return to office as a renewed vote of confidence and a significant call to greater service.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Comrade Monday Iyke Ojomah, the management described the electoral outcome as an act of God, urging the chairman and his executive colleagues not to take the mandate entrusted to them by members of the union for granted.
Ojomah noted that re-election comes with heightened expectations and greater responsibility, stressing that the renewed mandate should inspire the leadership to demonstrate humility, accountability, inclusiveness and an unwavering commitment to the welfare and professional advancement of journalists in Delta State.
He emphasised that the significance of the electoral victory would ultimately be measured by the quality of leadership provided, the unity achieved within the union and the tangible improvements made in the lives of members.
The Fresh Facts Magazine Editor-in-Chief particularly urged Oyowe and his re-elected executive colleagues to seize the opportunity presented by their second tenure to reconcile aggrieved members, resolve lingering disagreements and bridge divisions that may have affected the cohesion of the union.
According to him, the strength and progress of the NUJ Delta State Council depend largely on its ability to accommodate differing views, promote mutual respect and ensure that every member feels recognised, valued and represented.
He maintained that the re-elected leadership must rise above internal differences and embrace dialogue as a means of resolving disputes, warning that lasting progress would be difficult to achieve without genuine reconciliation and a collective commitment to the interests of journalists.
Ojomah further challenged the executive to build on the achievements of its first tenure while addressing areas that require improvement. He urged the leadership to introduce practical initiatives that would strengthen members’ welfare, promote professional development, encourage ethical journalism and enhance the overall standing of the union.
He added that the confidence reposed in the chairman and his team should translate into measurable results, people-oriented policies and a leadership culture characterised by transparency, fairness and responsiveness to the needs of members.
The magazine management expressed optimism that Oyowe and his colleagues would approach their second tenure with renewed determination and a clear sense of purpose, using the opportunity to consolidate previous gains while pursuing reforms capable of delivering greater benefits to journalists across the state.
Ojomah also called on members of the NUJ to support constructive initiatives by the executive, stressing that the task of building a stronger and more progressive union requires cooperation, understanding and a shared commitment from both the leadership and the general membership.
In its closing message, the management of Fresh Facts Magazine warmly congratulated Comrade Churchill Oyowe and all members of the re-elected Delta State Council executive, wishing them a successful and impactful second tenure.
The magazine urged them to regard their electoral victory not merely as a political achievement within the union, but as a sacred responsibility to serve with integrity, unite members and deliver meaningful progress. It expressed the hope that their administration would be remembered for genuine reconciliation, improved welfare, professional excellence and lasting achievements that strengthen the NUJ in Delta State.
The statement concluded that the true measure of the executive’s renewed mandate would not be the victory celebrated at the polls, but the positive difference made in the lives of journalists, the divisions healed, the confidence restored and the enduring legacy of unity and progress established during their tenure.
