The Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has arrested five suspects over alleged offences ranging from theft and conspiracy to shop burglary and fraud in different parts of the state.

The suspects, identified as Adebisi Olalere, 30; Isiaka Yinusa, 33; Farika Azeez, 30; Daniel Moses, 30; and Monday Lawrence, 30, were arrested on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following complaints received by the corps about their alleged involvement in various criminal activities.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the corps, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, Olalere, a herbalist from Gbongan, was arrested for allegedly conspiring with armed robbers and supplying them with traditional charms to facilitate their criminal operations.

He was reportedly apprehended alongside Yinusa, also from Gbongan, who was arrested in connection with an alleged shop burglary in the town. The corps described Yinusa as a former convict who had previously served a prison term for motorcycle theft.

Both suspects allegedly admitted to their involvement in the offences during preliminary investigations.

In a separate incident, Azeez, from Modakeke, was arrested over the alleged theft of a gas cylinder and other items in the community.

The corps said Azeez had previously been convicted of a similar offence and served a jail term. He allegedly confessed to the latest theft during interrogation.

Meanwhile, Moses and Lawrence, both indigenes of Benue State residing in Ipinrindo, Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State, were arrested over the alleged theft of iron rods from the local government secretariat.

The corps alleged that Moses admitted participating in the theft, disclosing that the stolen iron rods, estimated to be worth between ₦50,000 and ₦100,000, were sold to scrap dealers for between ₦4,000 and ₦5,000.

The suspects reportedly made admissions during the investigation into the incident.

Confirming the arrests, the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, said the suspects were apprehended at different locations following complaints lodged with the command.

Omoyele, who spoke to journalists in Osogbo, explained that operatives acted promptly on the complaints, leading to the arrests at the suspects’ alleged hideouts and at locations connected to the reported offences.

He added that preliminary investigations had yielded admissions from the suspects, while some had reportedly identified other individuals allegedly linked to the incidents.

The corps commander called on residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence that could assist in preventing crime and addressing emerging security threats.

He stressed that public cooperation remained vital to strengthening security and sustaining peace across Osun State.

The five suspects have since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
