The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing war against crime, with recent operations leading to the arrest of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists, and drug peddlers across the state.

In separate sting operations carried out within the past week, the Command intercepted suspected armed robbers in Ogwashi-Uku and dismantled a suspected drug syndicate in Agbor, recovering an English pistol, live ammunition, and a stash of illicit drugs.

Armed Robbery Suspects Nabbed in Ogwashi-Uku

On September 17, 2025, a joint patrol team of police operatives from the Ogwashi-Uku Division, led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Israel Okomoyon, in collaboration with local vigilantes, intercepted three young men riding a motorcycle during routine surveillance.

The suspects – identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe (25), Victor Chibuzor (25), and Zakaria Joro (25), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku – were subjected to a search, which led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition.

The trio could not provide a credible explanation for possessing the firearm and were immediately taken into custody. Both the suspects and the recovered exhibits have since been transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.

Drug Syndicate Busted in Agbor

Earlier, on September 13, 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by Commander SP Danyaya Yunusa, acting on credible intelligence and in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS), raided a hotel along the Asaba–Benin Expressway, Agbor.

The operation led to the arrest of ten adult suspects, including the hotel owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor. A large quantity of illicit drugs was recovered from the premises, indicating the hotel had allegedly been serving as a hub for drug-related activities. The suspects remain in custody as discreet investigations continue.

Police Assures of Sustained Onslaught Against Crime

Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain the onslaught against criminals in the state. He emphasized that the latest successes highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing, community partnership, and rapid response strategies.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies, assuring that the Command will continue to respond swiftly to distress calls in its effort to guarantee peace and safety across Delta State.
