Barely 24 hours after assuming office, the newly deployed Customs Area Comptroller for Apapa Command, Emmanuel Oshoba, has led the command to a historic daily revenue record of ₦20.1 billion.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Tunde Ayagbalo, the figure represents the highest single-day revenue ever collected by any command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) since the adoption of the Unified Customs Management System, popularly called B’Odogwu.
The new record surpasses the previous peak of ₦18 billion achieved under the command’s former leadership. Comptroller Oshoba described the feat as “only the beginning of greater exploits,” stressing that the Apapa Command remains the flagship of the NCS and is poised to surpass expectations under his stewardship.
“I commend my team and stakeholders for this milestone of ₦20.1 billion collection in one day, just 24 hours after I resumed here,” Oshoba said. “But it is not yet time to clap, because clapping means removing your two hands from work to celebrate. We must focus on doing even more.”
He further emphasized that B’Odogwu has become indispensable in driving modern, technology-driven customs operations, with the potential to enhance trade facilitation and reinforce Nigeria’s status as Africa’s largest economy.
Ayagbalo, in his statement, reminded officers that “outstanding results are the real proof of hard work, dedication, and an uncompromising disposition to duty,” noting that the achievement underlines what is possible with renewed energy and commitment.
The record underscores the strategic role of Apapa Port as Nigeria’s busiest trade hub and highlights the Customs Service’s efforts to boost revenue generation while modernizing operations.
