The Ghana Police Service has arrested two alleged leaders of a notorious highway robbery syndicate believed to be responsible for a string of violent crimes, including armed robberies and a murder, across several parts of the country.

The suspects, identified as Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Star Boy,” and Kofi Ishmael, are accused of coordinating a criminal gang that preyed on motorists, trailer drivers, civilians, and even a police officer between 2023 and 2025, according to official police sources.

Police investigations revealed that the gang operated along key transport corridors, notably the Tema Motorway, Achimota Forest Road, Suhum, Nkawkaw, Juaso, and sections of the Kumasi highway, where victims were allegedly ambushed and dispossessed of their belongings under the threat of firearms 🚦.

During the arrest operations, security operatives recovered firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons, strengthening suspicions of the group’s involvement in multiple armed attacks. Several accomplices connected to the syndicate have also been arrested, while others are said to be on the run.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to apprehend all remaining suspects and dismantle the criminal network completely.
