The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
Police operatives attached to the Ozubulu Division effected the arrests on the evening of Sunday, 26 January 2026, following what the Command described as technologically driven intelligence. The suspects were identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday.
According to the Police, preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the girl is currently in Ghana.
In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation. The investigation is expected to determine the full circumstances surrounding the movement of the minor out of the country and to identify any other persons who may be connected to the case.
The Police Command assured the public that further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.
