The people of Otolokpo Kingdom, Delta State, have expressed profound grief over the passing of former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi (1958–2025), describing his death as a monumental loss to Delta State and Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, December 19, 2025, and signed by the President General of Otolokpo Kingdom, AIG David Igbodo (rtd), the community paid glowing tribute to the late lawmaker, whom it described as a courageous patriot, resilient leader, and tireless advocate for his people.
According to the statement, Senator Nwaoboshi, who died at the age of 68, was not only a distinguished public servant but also a man whose life was devoted to service, development, and the upliftment of communities across Delta North and beyond.
“Senator Nwaoboshi was a courageous leader, a resilient advocate for his people, and a man whose life was dedicated to service, development, and the upliftment of our community,” the statement read.
The Otolokpo Kingdom highlighted the late senator’s long and impactful political career, noting his tenure as a two-term Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, as well as his service as Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, as clear evidence of his unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and national development.
Beyond his political titles, the kingdom described Senator Nwaoboshi as a man of strong character—bold in leadership, generous in spirit, and steadfast in his pursuit of equitable development. The statement recalled his resilience in the face of adversity, particularly his eventual vindication by the Supreme Court, which quashed a conviction that had earlier tarnished his reputation.
The community also acknowledged Senator Nwaoboshi’s direct contributions to Otolokpo Kingdom, especially his support for key infrastructural projects such as College Road and several internal roads in Umuhu Quarters, projects described as enduring legacies of his passion for grassroots development.
“These projects will remain lasting testimonies of his commitment to community advancement and his genuine concern for the well-being of our people,” the statement noted.
While mourning his passing, the people of Otolokpo Kingdom emphasized that Senator Nwaoboshi’s life and contributions would not be forgotten, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
The statement concluded with prayers for the repose of his soul and for God to grant his family the strength, comfort, and peace needed to bear the irreparable loss.
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is survived by family members, political associates, and countless beneficiaries of his years of public service.
