The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Global Ambassadors (BATGA) has issued a strong warning to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), cautioning the party against sidelining retired Brigadier General Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi in the contest for the Osun West Senatorial District ticket.

In a statement jointly signed by BATGA Convener and National Coordinator, Prince Realtor Kayode Olabode, and the Secretary General, Alhaji Ambassador Nurudeen A., the group said any attempt to deny Adewinmbi the party’s ticket could cost the APC victory in the district.

Addressed to the APC National Chairman, Osun State APC leadership, and other critical stakeholders, the statement described Adewinmbi as “the people’s choice” and warned against what it termed “backroom deals and political trading” capable of undermining the party’s chances ahead of future elections.

According to BATGA, the retired military officer possesses the credibility, discipline, and integrity needed to secure victory for the party in Osun West. The group further argued that Adewinmbi has built a formidable grassroots structure across the senatorial district and enjoys widespread acceptance among party loyalists and residents.

“General Adewinmbi is not a project imposed from above. He is the candidate the people built from below,” the statement declared.

The group maintained that imposing any candidate lacking grassroots support would amount to disregarding the wishes of the electorate and could trigger voter apathy and internal resistance within the party.

BATGA warned that failure to present Adewinmbi as the APC candidate could hand the opposition an advantage in the district.

“If APC leadership trades away this ticket, you trade away Osun West. The masses will not follow a candidate forced on them. They will abstain, they will resist, and they will punish the party at the polls,” the statement added.

The organization also invoked the political philosophy of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing what it described as the President’s doctrine of respecting the people, rewarding loyalty, and protecting the party’s electoral strength.

BATGA further cautioned party leaders against allowing “personal interests and political horse-trading” to override what it called the clear mandate of the people of Osun West.

Reaffirming its support for Adewinmbi, the group stated that any decision to sideline him would be viewed by party supporters as a betrayal of the APC grassroots base and a move capable of weakening the party’s political calculations ahead of 2027.

The statement concluded with an appeal to APC stakeholders to “choose wisely, choose the people, and choose victory.”
