The President General of Otolokpo Development Union,Chief Barr. Igbodo David Esq., has called on all sons and daughters of Otolokpo Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite in purpose and embrace a spirit of complementary partnership to drive meaningful development in the community.
Speaking on the need for unity over competition, Chief Igbodo said the greatest strength of Otolokpo lies in the ability of its people to work together — complementing one another’s strengths and filling gaps where needed. He described complementary partnership as a model where individuals, groups, and institutions unite not to outshine each other, but to achieve common goals that benefit all.
“No single person or group has all the skills, resources, or ideas to transform our community,” he said. “When we harmonize our diverse abilities, we create a synergy that far surpasses what any individual can achieve alone.”
He emphasized that Otolokpo’s growth in infrastructure, education, healthcare, business, and culture requires unity, collaboration, and mutual respect. According to him, every achievement should be seen as a product of collective effort, encouraging wider participation in community projects.
Giving examples, Chief Igbodo noted that when one person sponsors a borehole, others can complement by maintaining it; when a youth group organizes an environmental cleanup, market traders can help sustain daily cleanliness; and when diaspora members send funds, locals can ensure projects are implemented transparently and sustainably.
The community leader outlined the benefits of complementary partnership, including fostering unity, ensuring sustainable development, encouraging active participation, and building collective pride.
He urged citizens to rally around key projects such as renovating the town hall and sustaining the Otolokpo annual carnival — the first of its kind in Ika Nation — as symbols of shared achievement and pride.
“Otolokpo’s greatness will not come from competition among us, but from complementing one another’s efforts,” he stressed. “Together, with humility and shared purpose, we will build the Otolokpo of our dreams.”
Chief Igbodo, who also serves as Chief Executive of the Triple Justice Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the delivery of justice, concluded with a rallying call:
“Long live Otolokpo Kingdom. Long live the Obi of Otolokpo. Greater progress for our sons and daughters.”
