The Chairman of the Integrity Group of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, Comrade Dr Martin Nwachukwu Bolum, has criticised politicians attacking Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the state’s federal allocations, describing the claims as politically motivated and unsupported by the available financial records.

Bolum was reacting to reports alleging that Oborevwori had received about N4.119 trillion in federal allocations since assuming office in May 2023, with little development to show for the money.

He said the claim was inaccurate, insisting that audited accounts and published Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) figures put Delta State’s actual net federal and FAAC-related receipts at about N2.70 trillion between January 2023 and June 2026.

According to him, Delta received N580.60 billion in 2023, N1.138 trillion in 2024, N649.67 billion in 2025 and N331.43 billion between January and June 2026.

Bolum said politicians should stop inflating revenue figures for political advantage. “Delta State has passed the era of political propaganda, lies and sensational political statements. If anybody wants to criticise the governor, let the person come with facts,” he said.

He also challenged those questioning the governor’s infrastructure record to travel across the state and see the projects for themselves. He stated that Governor Oborevwori administration has undertaken more than 500 road projects covering more than 1,500 kilometres, alongside about 950 kilometres of drainage works. The state government has also reported that about 300 kilometres of roads were delivered in 2025 alone.

Among the major road projects are the Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway, Trans-Warri/Ode-Itsekiri Road, Emevor-Orogun Road, Oko-Amakom/Oko-Obiokpu Road, Okpanam-Ugbolu Road and several projects across the three senatorial districts.

In June 2026, the governor inaugurated three road projects covering about 18 kilometres in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, including the Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road, Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road and Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road.

He said the Governor is commenced and almost done with constructions of five major flyover projects. They are the PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction flyovers in the Warri-Effurun axis, the Otovwodo Junction flyover in Ughelli and the Uromi Junction flyover in Agbor.

Bolum said the bridge projects were equally significant, particularly in riverine communities. He cited the Beneku Bridge linking communities in Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East, the Ayakoromo Bridge across River Forcados in Burutu, the Orere River Bridge in Ughelli South and bridge works connected to the Trans-Warri/Ode-Itsekiri project.

The Trans-Warri/Ode-Itsekiri project alone involves 15 bridges and access roads serving communities including Ubeji, Ajatan, Ifie, Ijala, Ugbodede, Orugbo, Ajigba, Inorin and Usele before terminating at Ode-Itsekiri.

“The governor’s development programme has also extended beyond roads and bridges”, said said, In education, the administration has established and operationalised a campus of Southern Delta University at Orerokpe and introduced a College of Health Sciences at its Ozoro campus. It has also continued investment in public universities, colleges and technical institutions.

Dr. Bolum said the Governor has rehabilitated and upgrade of more than 400 public primary and secondary schools, including classroom rehabilitation, roofing, furniture and perimeter fencing.

In healthcare, projects include the Osubi Specialist Hospital, upgrades at General Hospital Orerokpe, rehabilitation of General Hospital Akwukwu-Igbo and facilities at Cottage Hospital Ogidigben. The administration is also completing the 100-bed Maternal and Child Centre at Ekpan and developing a College of Medical Sciences complex at the University of Delta, Agbor.

Bolum said these projects showed that the governor’s record should not be judged by figures being circulated by political opponents. He accused some politicians of deliberately attacking the administration “for the sake of political relevance”, saying such attacks would not change what residents could see on the ground.

“Some people are looking for political relevance by attacking everything the governor does. But politics should not make us blind to development,” he said. He urged opposition politicians to engage the administration on facts, project quality and accountability rather than what he called “deliberate misinformation”.

Bolum added that the government should remain open to scrutiny, but insisted that criticism must be based on verifiable evidence. “The people have the right to ask questions. But we must ask the right questions and use the right figures. Development should be assessed with evidence, not political propaganda,” he said.

The figures cited by Bolum cover January 2023 to June 2026 and therefore include the period before Oborevwori assumed office on May 29, 2023. The approximately N2.70 trillion total is consequently a state-level receipt figure for the stated period, not money received exclusively during the governor’s tenure.
