A retired senior military officer, Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Osun West Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Adewinmbi made the declaration on Thursday, April 30, 2026, announcing that he had obtained both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Describing the decision as a product of deep reflection and wide consultations, the retired Brigadier General said his aspiration was driven by a strong desire to serve the people of Osun West and advance the progressive ideals of the APC.

According to him, after serving Nigeria with discipline, courage, and integrity in the military, he now seeks to bring his wealth of experience, strategic thinking, and leadership to the legislative arm of government.

He noted that Osun West Senatorial District deserves effective and responsive representation capable of listening to the people, understanding their needs, and delivering meaningful results.

Adewinmbi observed that although the district is richly blessed with human and natural resources, there remains a noticeable gap between its potential and present realities.

He pledged to bridge that gap through purposeful legislation, active constituency engagement, and strategic partnerships aimed at attracting development, creating economic opportunities, and improving the standard of living of residents.

Speaking on his agenda, the APC aspirant said he would champion policies that stimulate economic growth and empower youths and women across the district.

He also promised to advocate improved infrastructure, quality education, and better healthcare delivery, while ensuring that the voices of Osun West are heard, respected, and acted upon at the national level.

Adewinmbi further assured constituents of his commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance if elected.

He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress for what he described as a level playing field and commitment to democratic values.

The aspirant also thanked the people of Osun West Senatorial District for their encouragement, trust, and belief in his mission.

Calling for unity and collective action, Adewinmbi said the journey toward a better future for the district belongs to every son and daughter of Osun West who desires progress, equity, and sustainable development.

He appealed for the support, prayers, and partnership of the people as he seeks to reposition the district for greater prosperity.
