It was a moment of celebration, honor, and affirmation of leadership in Anambra State on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, as the National Coordinator of EYE-ON-SECURITY, Comrade Monday Iyke Ojomah, presented the prestigious Peace and Security Ambassador Award to Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD.
The ceremony, held in Awka, attracted dignitaries, senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, civil society representatives, and community leaders who gathered to celebrate a police officer widely regarded as a model of modern policing.
In his remarks, Comr. Ojomah described the award as more than a ceremonial honor, stressing that it was a recognition of “integrity, leadership, and the power of service.” He commended CP Orutugu for his community-driven approach to policing, which he said has restored public confidence in law enforcement in Anambra State.
“Sir, in you, CP Ikioye Orutugu, we have seen the practical demonstration of visionary policing. You have shown that law enforcement can be firm, fair, and humane—guided not just by authority, but by accountability,” Ojomah declared.
According to EYE-ON-SECURITY, the choice of CP Orutugu followed a rigorous review of his contributions to peace, security, and public trust across the state.
Congratulatory Message from POWA President
Adding a special touch to the evening, Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), called in during the ceremony to congratulate the awardee.
In her words:
“On behalf of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to CP Ikioye Orutugu. This recognition is well-deserved, and we are proud of his dedication to peace, community safety, and the positive image he has given to the Nigeria Police Force. Her message was received with warm applause from guests who described it as a motherly endorsement of Orutugu’s track record.
