— CP Ikioye commends operatives, vows sustained crackdown on cultism
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist and armed robber in Dunukofia Local Government Area, recovering a Lexus vehicle, a firearm, and live ammunition during the operation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Chiemerie Udeh, was apprehended on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2025, by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, while on Aberdeen patrol along the Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road.
During a search of the black Lexus car with registration number RSH 613 AZ, the operatives reportedly found one locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

Ikenga said the suspect was immediately arrested, while the vehicle, firearm, and ammunition were taken into custody as exhibits. Preliminary investigation, he added, suggested that the vehicle might have been stolen and was possibly being used in preparation for a planned rival cult attack.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reiterating the Command’s resolve to sustain its onslaught against cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across Anambra State.
“We will continue to identify, track, and dismantle criminal networks threatening peace and safety in Anambra,” the Commissioner assured.
Ikenga further noted that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
