The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned three male suspects before the Special Court in Awka for alleged involvement in an unnatural offence, contrary to the provisions of the Criminal Code Act.
The suspects — Chizitem Nwankwo (20), Uche Paul (36), and Chinedu Maduekwe (40) — were remanded in a correctional centre in the state following their arraignment.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest and subsequent prosecution followed a “meticulous investigation conducted by police detectives after credible intelligence and evidence were gathered.” He explained that the case file was later forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, which recommended their prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring due process in all criminal matters.
“The Command remains resolute in ensuring that justice is pursued within the bounds of the law. We urge residents to continue providing useful information that will help the Police maintain law and order across the State,” the Commissioner stated.
The arraignment underscores the Anambra State Police Command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public confidence in law enforcement and promote a crime-free society.
