ENGR RAYMOND NWAJUONYE INAUGURATED AS 2ND YEFON ASABA CHAPTER CHAIRMAN

ASABA – The Young Engineers Forum of Nigeria, YEFoN, Asaba Chapter, has inaugurated Engr. Raymond Onyeka Nwajuonye, MNSE, MNIEEE as its 2nd Chairman alongside newly elected executive members.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, 19th August 2026 at the Umukoro Hall, Ministry of Works, Summit Road, Asaba was combined with a public lecture themed, “Engineering Innovation for Enhanced Security, Safety and Sustainable National Development: Empowering Young Engineers and Advancing Gender Inclusion.”

Speaking at the event, the Guest Speaker, Engr. Prof. Hilary Owamah, FNSE, FNICE, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Delta State University, Abraka, emphasized that engineering innovation remains key to solving Nigeria’s security, safety, and development challenges.

Prof. Owamah stressed that Nigeria’s development challenges can only be addressed through deliberate investment in research, technology, and homegrown engineering solutions.

He further urged young engineers to embrace innovation, continuous learning, adding that empowering young professionals in engineering is critical to building a resilient and sustainable nation.

The erudite scholar charged the newly inaugurated YEFoN Asaba executives to lead with vision and create platforms that will position young engineers as key contributors to national growth.

In her keynote address, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) J.C. Aboloje, FNSE, FNICE, FNIWE, a retired Permanent Secretary, called for greater inclusion of women in engineering and urged young professionals to embrace mentorship, ethics, and technology-driven solutions.

In his inaugural address, the new Chairman, Engr. Nwajuonye, pledged to run an inclusive administration that will prioritize skill development, networking opportunities, and partnerships to position young engineers as drivers of sustainable development in Delta State.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Engr. Edwin Obioha, appreciated dignitaries, members, and partners for their support toward the success of the event.

Other dignitaries at the event including Newton Jibunor, Dada Okonji and others commended the Asaba Chapter for its vibrancy and charged the new leadership to focus on capacity building, advocacy, and unity among young engineers.

The ceremony ended with the administration of oaths of office, goodwill messages, and a group photograph of the new executives.
