The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and several key operational formations nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen policing, improve operational effectiveness, and advance ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu.
According to the statement, the newly appointed Commissioners of Police for the affected state commands are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia State), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau State), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa State), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River State), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra State), Patrick Daaor (Edo State), Tani Murtala (Jigawa State), and Samuel Erale (Delta State).
Beyond the state commands, the IGP also approved the deployment of senior officers to strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy, and the Police Staff College.
Among the notable postings are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Force Criminal Investigation Department as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to the Department of Finance and Administration/Department of Training and Development at the Force Headquarters; CP Uduak Ita Otu to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos; CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf to the General Investigation Section of the FCID, Abuja; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters; and CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID, Abuja.
Other senior officers redeployed include CP Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration at Force Headquarters; CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman to the Inspectorate Department under the Department of Training and Development; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura as Commissioner of Police, Administration, FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Nelson Nwamana to the Police Academy, Kano; and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo to the FCID Annex, Gombe.
The Inspector-General charged the newly deployed Commissioners to leverage their professional experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational efficiency, promoting professionalism, and fostering stronger partnerships with communities.
He also urged the senior officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining the highest standards of discipline, accountability, integrity, and quality service delivery.
The Nigeria Police Force stated that the redeployment is part of its ongoing institutional reforms designed to reinforce internal capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and improve policing services across the country.
