In a renewed effort to strengthen peace and foster lasting harmony in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, convened a peace dialogue with leaders and stakeholders of Nimo community in Njikoka Local Government Area.
The interactive meeting, held at St. Vincent Primary School, Ifite-Ani, Nimo, brought together the Local Government Chairman, the community’s traditional ruler, town union executives, women and youth leaders, as well as representatives of the traditional council and security partners.
The peace dialogue, according to the Police Commissioner, was part of the Command’s broader effort to promote dialogue-based conflict resolution, strengthen community-police relations, and address lingering communal disagreements that have threatened the area’s social stability.
Speaking during the engagement, CP Orutugu reaffirmed his commitment to the use of dialogue and mediation as effective tools for peacebuilding and sustainable security. He noted that genuine peace can only be achieved when community members work hand in hand with law enforcement agencies.
“Security and peace thrive best in an atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation. The Police will continue to partner with communities like Nimo to ensure that disputes are resolved amicably and the existing peace in Anambra State is preserved,” the CP said.

He further appealed to community leaders to shun divisive tendencies, embrace reconciliation, and promote tolerance and understanding among all segments of the community.
In their separate remarks, the Local Government Chairman, traditional ruler, town union executives, and youth representatives commended CP Orutugu for his proactive leadership and timely intervention. They described the peace dialogue as a crucial step toward restoring unity and accelerating development in Nimo and its environs.
The meeting concluded on a hopeful note, with all parties agreeing to maintain open communication and strengthen collaboration with the Police in pursuit of enduring peace and security across Njikoka Local Government Area.
