Theme: Entrepreneurship Development: A Necessary Prerequisite for Sustainable Peace in Africa
In a determined move to deepen the synergy between the public and security agencies, EYE-ON-SECURITY—a coalition of seasoned journalists from Nigeria and across Africa—will be hosting the Second Edition of the Annual a one-day Peace and Security Summit on June 12, 2025, at the NUJ Press Center, Mariam Babangida Way, Asaba, Delta State. The event is scheduled to commence at 11:00am.
With the theme “Entrepreneurship Development: A Necessary Prerequisite for Sustainable Peace in Africa,” the summit aims to foster constructive dialogue between media professionals, security agencies, civil society, and the general public on how economic empowerment and youth engagement can significantly contribute to long-term peace and security across the continent.
EYE-ON-SECURITY is committed to monitoring the activities of security agencies, offering commendations where due, constructive criticism where necessary, and making well-informed suggestions to improve the effectiveness and accountability of these institutions. The team also aligns with key regional bodies such as the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA)—an independent non-governmental organization with UN ECOSOC Consultative Status and Observer Status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR)—as well as the African Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) and the African Platform on Access to Information (APAI).
Recognizing the critical role of public perception and cooperation in the success of security operations, the summit will serve as a platform for strengthening the relationship between the general publi and security operatives. According to the organizing committee, the gathering will encourage collaborative strategies to promote peace through responsible reporting, citizen engagement, and sustainable economic initiatives.
In addition, the public is invited to submit nominations for individuals or organizations that have made impactful contributions to peace-building efforts in Africa. Selected nominees will be honored with the prestigious Peace and Security Ambassador Award during the event.
EYE-ON-SECURITY is also calling on individuals, organizations, and corporate bodies to support this noble initiative through sponsorships, advert placements, and general contributions.
