Otolokpo Kingdom is set to host a grander and more inclusive edition of its annual celebration as plans for Otolokpo Day 2025, tagged “Unity Carnival,” officially come to the fore.

The three-day event, scheduled to hold from December 28 to 30, 2025, was formally released by the President General of Otolokpo Kingdom, Barrister David Igbodo, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), who assured indigenes and stakeholders that this year’s celebration will be larger, richer, and more robust than previous editions.

According to the President General, the 2025 Otolokpo Day is deliberately structured to strengthen unity, promote cultural heritage, empower youths, and foster socio-economic development within the community and beyond.

“This year’s Otolokpo Day has been carefully expanded to accommodate more participation, deeper engagement, and broader impact. We are particularly excited that the General Conference will be hosted both physically and virtually via Zoom, to enable our sons and daughters in the diaspora to be part of this important conversation,” Barr. Igbodo stated.

Three Days of Culture, Dialogue and Celebration

The Unity Carnival will open on Saturday, December 28, with activities including a football competition, general conference, church activities and prayers, as well as a medical outreach aimed at promoting community health and wellbeing.

Day Two, Sunday, December 29, will showcase the rich cultural identity of Otolokpo Kingdom through cultural displays, youth talent exhibitions, music, comedy, dance, and a raffle draw, creating an atmosphere of festivity and intergenerational bonding.

The celebration will climax on Monday, December 30, with a Youth Conference and Arts showcase, reinforcing the community’s commitment to youth development, creativity, and leadership grooming.

Diaspora Inclusion Through Technology

A major highlight of this year’s programme is the hybrid General Conference, which will be streamed live via Zoom, allowing Otolokpo indigenes and stakeholders in the diaspora to participate, contribute ideas, and reconnect with home.

Community leaders say this innovation reflects the progressive vision of the current leadership and its determination to harness technology for inclusive development.

A Call to Unity and Participation

Otolokpo Day has over the years served as a platform for unity, reflection, and cultural revival. The 2025 edition, themed Unity Carnival, is expected to further cement bonds among indigenes, residents, friends of the kingdom, and development partners.

Residents and guests are encouraged to participate fully in the celebration, which promises not only entertainment but meaningful dialogue, cultural pride, and collective progress.
