The ongoing Delta State Economic and Investment Summit will yield monumental, long-lasting benefits for the state’s civil servants by driving indirect economic growth, massive infrastructure development, and enhanced public service capacity, Comrade Lawson Efenudu has confidently declared to the press.
Speaking to journalists in Asaba on Tuesday after extensively participating in both the first and second days of the high-level event, Efenudu, who serves as the Director of Organized Labour for the Integrity Group in Delta State, highly praised the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his aggressive blueprint aimed at attracting strategic non-oil investments to diversify the local economy.
Efenudu explicitly clarified that while the economic summit might not translate into immediate, direct individual cash allowances for civil servants, its long-term structural impacts will fundamentally transform the public workforce and daily workplace environment. He urged workers to look at the bigger picture of sustainable state development.
“The benefits of this Delta State Economic and Investment Summit to our civil servants are truly humongous, but people must look beyond immediate cash expectations,” Efenudu stated. “A stronger, highly resilient state economy, driven by robust private sector investments, directly expands government internally generated revenue. This financial stability is precisely what guarantees regular salary payments, safeguards worker job security, and sustains steady career progression within the civil service.”
He outlined several workplace enhancements expected from the summit’s outcomes, highlighting massive infrastructural upgrades as a core benefit. According to him, incoming investments in roads, stable power, and digital communication systems will modernize government ministries, making daily administrative tasks significantly easier, faster, and more efficient for workers.
Furthermore, Efenudu strongly emphasized capacity building as a critical takeaway from the ongoing sessions. He noted that new partnerships with international development bodies and private investors will introduce modern training modules, effectively equipping the public workforce with global best practices and modern administrative skills.
The labor leader strongly charged public servants across the state to actively key into the final outcomes and policy resolutions of the summit, particularly regarding individual capacity building. He noted that acquiring contemporary skills during active service is the most reliable cushion for a prosperous, secure life after retirement.
Highlighting the state’s immense industrial potential, Efenudu praised the governor for fostering an exceptionally safe, enabling environment that protects and encourages corporate investors. He pointed to Delta State’s strategic free trade and special economic zones—specifically naming the Kwale Free Trade Zone, the Koko Free Trade Zone, and the Warri Oil and Gas Free Zone—as major industrial hubs poised to attract global capital, generate massive indirect employment, and stimulate commercial activities across all local governments.
Efenudu urged the entire public sector workforce to fully align with and support the administration’s economic blueprint. He noted that a prosperous, economically independent Delta State ultimately translates directly to a more vibrant, secure, highly motivated, and well-rewarded civil service capable of delivering optimum governance and excellent public service delivery to all the citizens of the state today. “Therefore, all government employees must fully embrace these emerging transformative opportunities for maximum collective and individual progress,” he said.
