Kwale, Delta State – The Delta State Government on the third day of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit took its investment drive beyond the conference hall, showcasing the Kwale Free Trade Zone (KFTZ) in Ndokwa West Local Government Area to a delegation of international investors.

Leading the delegation was the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, who was accompanied by investors from Brazil, Malaysia and the United States, as well as senior government officials, on a strategic inspection tour of the industrial hub.

The delegation was received by the Board of the Delta Special Economic Zone (DSEZ), led by its Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mike Ndubuisi (Rtd.), who expressed appreciation to the state government for selecting the Kwale Free Trade Zone as the first destination for the summit’s field engagements.

Speaking during the visit, Brig. Gen. Ndubuisi said the Zone remains committed to its mandate of attracting local and foreign investments, creating employment opportunities and driving industrial development across Delta State. He assured prospective investors of the Board’s commitment to providing the necessary policy direction and oversight to ensure a secure, transparent and business-friendly environment within the Zone.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta Special Economic Zone, Pastor Godwin Akpovie, PhD, conducted the delegation on a guided tour of the facility, showcasing existing infrastructure, ongoing development projects and the range of incentives available to investors.

Akpovie highlighted the Zone’s strategic advantage, noting its direct access to the OB3 Gas Pipeline and proximity to over 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, making it an ideal destination for energy-intensive industries such as fertilizer production, petrochemicals and manufacturing.

He explained that the Kwale Free Trade Zone was deliberately designed to support industrial expansion by providing world-class infrastructure and a regulatory framework that minimizes investment risks while accelerating business growth.

Addressing the delegation, Deputy Governor Onyeme described the visit as a practical demonstration of the Delta State Government’s determination to translate investment discussions into tangible projects.

He reiterated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to economic diversification through strategic partnerships and sustainable industrial development, emphasizing that Delta State remains open for business and ready to support investors willing to establish operations within the state.

At the conclusion of the tour, members of the international investment delegation expressed strong interest in opportunities within the agriculture, energy and industrial sectors. They described the Kwale Free Trade Zone as a viable, investment-ready destination and commended the progress made in developing the Zone.

The investors noted that the visit had strengthened their confidence in Delta State’s investment potential and described the field engagement as an important step toward converting discussions at the summit into concrete investment commitments.

The tour formed a major highlight of the third day of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, underscoring the state’s commitment to showcasing bankable projects and positioning Delta as a leading destination for industrial investment in Nigeria.
