Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured that the long-anticipated Ughelli-Asaba Road dualisation project is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in his administration’s drive for infrastructural transformation.
The Governor gave the assurance on Friday during his inspection tour of key ongoing projects in the state, including the reconstruction of the Olomoro–Igbide Road in Isoko South Local Government Area and Sector C2 of the Ughelli–Asaba Expressway.
Addressing reporters, Governor Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work being done, reaffirming that his administration’s development blueprint—the MORE Agenda—is delivering tangible results that directly impact the lives of Deltans.
“I am impressed with the speed and quality of work being delivered,” Oborevwori said. “I visited here in March, and the contractors assured me that Sector C1 would be completed by May. From what I am seeing, they are on track. This project will soon be completed.”
The 143-kilometre Ughelli-Asaba Expressway, a critical artery linking key regions of the state, has already started yielding benefits. According to the Governor, travel time between Asaba and Ughelli has significantly reduced to under two hours, drawing commendation from commuters and residents alike.
“This road is a major achievement. We have received a lot of positive feedback from users, and it’s clear that people are already benefiting from it,” he added.
Governor Oborevwori underscored that the ultimate goal of governance is to improve the lives of the people. He highlighted the importance of citizen satisfaction as a benchmark for success in public service.
“We were elected to serve, and it brings me joy when the people are satisfied with our efforts. From roads to healthcare, education, and youth empowerment, our projects are making a real difference,” he said.
