LAGOS — As political momentum builds ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State Governorship Election, prominent security expert and elder statesman, Brigadier General Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd), has extended his warm congratulations to Honourable Damilola Sonayan James following her official emergence as the deputy governorship running mate for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Honourable James will share the ticket with the APC flag bearer and incumbent Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who is vying for the state’s top seat.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, General Adewinmbi praised James’s political trajectory, describing her selection as a direct result of her long-standing loyalty and relentless service to the state and the progressive political family.
“Your steadfastness, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the progressive family have earned you this well-deserved recognition,” Adewinmbi stated. “This nomination is a testament to your dedication, hard work, and service to the people.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming electoral campaign, the retired General offered prayers for the newly minted running mate, asking for divine guidance, vitality, and fortitude for the joint ticket.
He further charged Honourable James to remain anchored to the foundational values of the party, urging her to protect the confidence reposed in her by both the party hierarchy and the Lagos electorate.
“As you prepare for the responsibilities ahead, remain faithful to the ideals of the party and the trust reposed in you by the leadership and people of Lagos State,” Adewinmbi advised, closing with wishes for a successful campaign trail.
With the APC ticket now locked in, political analysts view the combination of Hamzat and James as a strategic consolidation of governance experience and grassroots loyalty aimed at securing victory at the Lagos polls.
