The Kogi State Head of Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, has called on civil servants to view their roles not just as jobs, but as a divine calling to serve God, humanity, and the advancement of society.

Speaking at a special Sunday service to mark the 2025 Civil Service Week at Unity Chapel, State Secretariat, Lokoja, Dr. Evinemi stressed the need for renewed commitment, integrity, and accountability among workers in the state’s public sector.

“Every civil servant should understand that we are entrusted with the responsibility to uplift our communities and positively impact the lives of our fellow citizens,” he said, urging them to uphold values such as dedication, transparency, empathy, and a strong moral compass in the discharge of their duties.

He noted that when civil service is seen through “the lens of service to God and humanity,” it fosters a culture of respect, compassion, and mutual support.

The guest preacher, Pastor Dan Onuchi, encouraged the adoption of digital tools to modernize service delivery, while urging civil servants to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities.

The event, attended by government stakeholders and a cross-section of workers, ended with a special prayer session led by Justice Samuel Obayomi for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Head of Service, permanent secretaries, civil servants, and the peace of Kogi State and Nigeria.
