The Post-Graduate School of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has concluded a landmark two-day academic workshop designed to deepen disciplinary knowledge, sharpen research and presentation skills, and foster professional growth among postgraduate students.
The event, which commenced on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and ended today, Friday, August 1, 2025, was held under the theme “The Nexus Between Post-Graduate Research, Industry and National Development.” It attracted distinguished scholars, faculty members, and postgraduate students from diverse fields.
In his welcome address, the Dean of the Post-Graduate School, Professor Sunny Awhefeada, expressed profound appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, for his consistent support and visionary leadership in advancing the university’s academic mission. He highlighted the critical role of research in driving innovation to meet human needs and improve quality of life, urging students to embrace the workshop as a platform for scholarly growth.
Addressing participants, Vice-Chancellor Professor Asagba, a renowned Professor of Biochemistry and Toxicology, commended the postgraduate directorate for organizing the initiative. He described DELSU as “the seat of wisdom, a light to the world, a minister of the faith, and an Alma Mater of the rising generation.”
Professor Asagba underscored the importance of critical thinking, interdisciplinary engagement, and high-quality research, stressing that such efforts can lead to publications in reputable local and international journals. He urged participants to maximize the opportunity, assuring them that the workshop’s carefully curated topics would significantly contribute to their academic and professional development.
The workshop featured interactive sessions, expert-led presentations, and networking opportunities, aligning with DELSU’s commitment to producing graduates whose research can impact industry and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development.
