A policy analyst and prominent member of the Delta Unity Group (DUG), Barr. Eugene Azuka Uzum, has issued a stern warning to individuals he described as mischief makers and blackmailers in Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State. He urged them to desist from spreading disinformation aimed at tarnishing the image of reputable individuals and groups within the constituency, the state, and beyond.
Uzum’s remarks come in response to a recent publication on Facebook alleging that the Delta Unity Group (DUG), a political pressure group committed to promoting good governance, was planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
Describing the post as false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading, Uzum condemned those behind it, saying their actions reflect deep-seated malice and an unrelenting desire to discredit others for selfish political gains.
“It is unfortunate that certain elements in Ika Nation derive satisfaction from concocting lies to malign their fellow brothers and sisters,” Uzum said. “This level of political insensitivity and outright hatred is not only shameful but dangerous for the unity and progress of our constituency.”
He reaffirmed that the Delta Unity Group remains steadfast in its mission to promote accountability, transparency, and good governance across Delta State. According to Uzum, the founding leaders of the group envisioned a political platform that would champion progressive ideals and contribute meaningfully to the socio-political development of the state.
He further stated that Ika Nation has been a major beneficiary of DUG’s good governance advocacy, noting that visible signs of accountability and responsive leadership are already emerging as a result of the group’s consistent engagements.
“We will not be distracted by those whose only contribution to our political discourse is to spread lies and sow discord,” he asserted. “The public should disregard such misinformation, and rather, continue to support platforms that are genuinely committed to development.”
Uzum concluded by calling on well-meaning citizens of Ika and Delta State at large to remain vigilant and united against divisive tactics, emphasizing that only through collective effort can the ideals of good governance be fully realized.
