In a resounding show of loyalty and political solidarity, the people of Ute-Okpu community in Ward 9, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, have once again reaffirmed their unwavering support for their beloved leader, Dr. Hilary Obi Ibegbulem—fondly referred to as The Lion.
On April 12, 2025, members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ute-Okpu held a vibrant and well-attended rally at Etiti Primary School, Ute-Okpu, where they celebrated the defection of over 500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP. This mass defection was not only a political statement but also a firm rejection of the APC rally that was scheduled to hold on the same day at Bendel Hotel Grounds, Agbor.
The defectors cited Dr. Ibegbulem’s exceptional leadership and countless developmental strides in the community as their primary reason for leaving the APC. According to them, his transformative impact on both indigenes and non-indigenes of Ute-Okpu has been unmatched over the years. They further decried the growing internal divisions within the APC, describing it as a party plagued by disunity and lacking in direction—factors they believe will lead to its overwhelming defeat in the upcoming elections.
The event was a powerful demonstration of PDP’s political dominance in Ute-Okpu, Ika North-East LGA, Ika Federal Constituency, Delta North Senatorial District, and Delta State at large. Party leaders at the rally applauded the courage of the new members and reassured them of inclusivity and a renewed focus on community development.
