Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has rolled out ₦492.7 million in farm, trade, and business support grants to 1,187 residents of Uyo Federal Constituency, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots economic empowerment.
The disbursement took place during the Uyo Federal Constituency Town Square Meeting at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo, where beneficiaries received various packages under the state’s flagship ARISE Initiative. They include 276 farmers, 628 traders, and 263 small-scale entrepreneurs who benefited from the ARISE Equipment Support Scheme. Additionally, eight beneficiaries received ₦5 million MSME grants, while 12 others were handed cars and mini-buses.
Highlighting his administration’s two-year scorecard, Governor Eno revealed the completion of 116 projects across Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Attai, and Ibesikpo Asutan LGAs, spanning roads, health centres, compassionate homes, and primary schools. He said the meeting provided a platform to receive the constituency’s “needs document” for inclusion in the 2026 Peoples’ Budget.
Acknowledging the ARISE Youth Employment portal for ensuring a transparent selection process, the governor praised the massive turnout and credited the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for his role in mobilising support. He also commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for releasing funds that have enabled states to deliver on empowerment and development programmes.
Governor Eno directed the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Center to train 50 members from each recognised support group for the next empowerment phase. He further announced a federal government-funded ward empowerment scheme targeting 1,000 persons per ward.
Calling for unity and mutual respect, the governor urged residents to support President Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 general elections to sustain what he described as a “developmental synergy.”
In a special moment, Governor Eno celebrated the promotion of Uyo-born Uduak Otu Ita to the rank of Commissioner of Police, presenting her with a brand-new SUV as an inspiration for young women in the state.
The event concluded with the unanimous adoption of Governor Eno as Uyo Federal Constituency’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
