Anambra Bids Farewell to AIG Ikioye Orutugu as Distinguished Policing Career Ends

The week-long activities, which commenced on Monday, August 3, 2026, combined the celebration of the senior police officer’s birthday with ceremonies marking his retirement following his recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, led members of the State Executive Council and other dignitaries in paying glowing tributes to the retiring police chief. The ceremony featured the inspection of the guard, ceremonial procession, policing honours, and tributes from serving and retired officers, government officials, traditional rulers, family members, friends, and other distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate an officer widely respected for his professionalism and exemplary leadership.
