Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – It was a day of accolades and emotional tributes as the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) honoured Mr. Kester Amos, Managing Director of Kesteramos Consultancy Services Ltd, with the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Special Award for Peace and Community Development.
The award, one of MFWA’s highest honours, was presented at a colourful ceremony attended by community leaders, business executives, youth groups, and government representatives in Yenagoa.
Speaking at the event, the MFWA Country Director (Nigeria) described Mr. Amos as “a visionary in agro-allied consultancy, an astute entrepreneur, an inspiring youth leader, and a community developer par excellence.”
“We are not just applauding a successful career; we are celebrating a man whose life’s work has become a beacon of innovation, service, and transformative leadership,” the Director said.
“Mr. Amos’ tangible impact—improving food security, empowering youths, and bridging divides—perfectly embodies the values of peace, unity, and sustainable development championed by Kwame Nkrumah.”
The MFWA noted that the award is reserved for individuals whose practical actions have strengthened social cohesion and advanced community well-being, often in the face of significant challenges.
Kester’s Response
An emotional Mr. Amos dedicated the award to the people of Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta.
“This honour is not just mine—it belongs to every farmer we have trained, every youth we have mentored, and every community we have served,” he said.
“I have always believed that leadership is not about position but about purpose. This recognition will push me to do even more to promote peace, self-reliance, and sustainable growth in our communities.”
He also thanked MFWA for the recognition and promised to expand his outreach projects in agro-entrepreneurship and community empowerment.
Goodwill Messages
In a goodwill message sent by Prof. Beke Sese, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Agriculture & Natural Resourcese, he described Mr. Amos as “a bridge between grassroots innovation and policy action,” adding that his work “has directly improved livelihoods and inspired agricultural reform in the state.”
Youth leader and activist, Mr. Samuel Otobo, described the awardee as “a mentor who doesn’t just teach but walks the journey with you,” while Chief Pereye Ayibatonye, a traditional ruler from Yenagoa, called the honour “a blessing not only to Kester but to the entire Niger Delta.”
A representative of the Bayelsa Chamber of Commerce noted that Mr. Amos had “demonstrated that ethical business practices and community service are not mutually exclusive but mutually reinforcing.”
The event ended with a standing ovation as Mr. Amos received the plaque, posed for photographs, and exchanged warm greetings with guests.
